How much notice do I need to provide to schedule a superload?
Superloads are loads which exceed the dimensions and/or weights normally issued on routine permits. The definition of a superload varies from state to
state. For an example, Texas defines a superload as one which, when loaded, exceeds 20' wide, 18'-11" high,
or 125' long. A permit of this type requires advance application and physical route Space City Trucking
Overdimensional inspection. Time for this process to be completed can be several days, a week, or even more
depending on the distance and if utility companies need to be contacted. While the dimensions of a
superload and the time to process the permit application may vary from state to state, it is always
recommended to plan ahead. Even while your cargo is still in the manufacturing stage, it's not too soon to
address the transportation phase of your project. Rates vary based on the commodity, origin, destination,
size, weight, and equipment required. Our load specialists will ask for specific information in order to
